Ask any serious collector where they buy their next 911 GT3 RS, Ferrari 812, or Lamborghini Huracán, and the UAE keeps coming up. Here's why the Emirates has become the go-to sourcing market for European supercar buyers.
1. The spec is better
UAE-market supercars come with options European dealers rarely stock: Weissach packages on every 911 GT3, PPF from delivery, ceramic coating, upgraded exhaust, wheel colour choices that would be a factory-visit special-order in Germany. The typical Dubai supercar is over-optioned in a way European buyers pay dealer premiums for.
2. The mileage is genuinely low
Dubai's climate is brutal. But that means owners drive in November through April and garage cars the rest of the year. It's normal to find a two-year-old car with 3,000 km. Compare that to Germany where enthusiasts actually drive their cars.
3. The market moves faster
Turnover in the Emirates is aggressive. Owners flip cars every 12-18 months. Inventory refreshes constantly. Rare specs surface, get bought, and reappear in the pre-owned market before the same car would show up on Mobile.de.
4. The pricing math works
Even after shipping, customs duty, and VAT (~30% of car value), the landed cost of a UAE-sourced supercar typically undercuts the EU dealer price by 15-35%. Sometimes more on high-spec cars EU dealers mark up aggressively.
5. The paperwork is cleaner than you'd expect
UAE Mulkiya (registration) is straightforward. Export certificates take 24-48 hours. Jebel Ali is one of the world's busiest export ports with efficient RoRo and container throughput. Once you know the process, it's boring.
What to watch out for
- Heat damage: Battery, rubber, dash plastics. Verify garage-kept, ask for service history.
- Wheel damage: Curbs are unforgiving here. Inspect all four.
- Front-end paint: Sandstorms are real. PPF should cover the front third.
- Accident repairs: Common. Independent inspection with paint meter is non-negotiable.
This is where a 42-point inspection earns its cost ten times over. Don't skip it on any car over €80k.
